1. How to find short-term and seasonal work
Summer camps
Several English companies employ seasonal staff to look after group of youngsters aged between the ages of 7 and 17. The main work requirement is a good knowledge of the English language and … you can even apply on-line!
Recruitment agencies and contacts for short-term/ seasonal work
Do bear in mind that the English Capital is very busy during the summer. Students from all over the world descend on London for 1 to 3 months to work in bars, restaurants and shops to help them cope with increased custom. Despite the many work opportunities to be found in London, the Academy advises you plan your trip. Before departure you should make Internet enquiries as to jobs availability by contacting hotels, restaurants and shops. Please find some useful web addresses that may have seasonal or short-term work:

Another useful address for part/full time employment is the Department of Work and Pension’s Job Centres. The main objective of this department is to reduce unemployment hence their propensity to find you a job. The first thing you need to do is register with a Job Centre (free service). After you’ve registered you will have access to a Job Centre Personal Adviser who will look at your past experiences and background in order to find you suitable job opportunities. If you don’t have a CV, the Job Centre Adviser can help you devise one as well as giving you advice on how to behave at interviews. Job interviews will then be arranged by the same adviser. Good luck!
2. How to find full-time work
Needless to say, getting a ‘good’ job will depend on how well you speak English. If you don’t speak the language well, you can’t expect much even if you do have good qualifications. However, there is a paradox regarding this. There are some Italians that speak perfect English but that work in catering and some even have humble jobs, yet there are some who speak appalling English who have amazing jobs. They achieve this through sheer determination, a trait not always present in all of us.
The links below offer work to anyone who’s willing to ‘work’. However, we can solve the paradox above by saying this: Be ambitious, be realistic.
