Inaugural evening of Accademia Apulia Award

Only a year after its launch, the Accademia Apulia, in its role of gathering the professional excellence of Puglia, has celebrated its first birthday at the Italian Cultural Institute in London. A most appropriate location for the members of the association, whose skills, experiences, inspiration and aspirations are at the service of its community, and to the cultural exchange between Italy and the United Kingdom. Recently, the association has grown considerably with members joining worldwide thus making Accademia Apulia a true melting pot.

Present at the evening, many London members, including Francesco Draisci, the curator Angelica Romanazzi, the executives Tiziana Ramunni and Monica Babbo. Also present the lawyers Tatiana Saponara and Vittorio Muschitiello. Delicious appetizers arrived for the occassion from Puglia thanks to companies D'Orazio (Frantoio D'Orazio) and Dattoma (Puglia Sapori) - all served with chilled Salice Salentino by Leone de Castris.

Guest of honour Nancy Dell'Olio, great ambassador for charities, including the Vital Voices Global Partnership (led by Hilary Clinton), the Red Cross, and Truce International. During the evening, unbeknown to Nancy, the chairman of the association, Angelo Iudice, gathered all guests in order to make an announcement or rather, an appointment: Nancy Dell'Olio Patron of the Academy Apulia.

"I'm happy, said the celebrity, 'to be able to do something for Accademia Apulia ... this really means that I have to support this project, something I am most happy to do... The Apulia comminity is an example of modern associationism aimed at supporting young talents, and a showcase of remarkeable professionals who make us all very proude that can only encourage other youngsters to follow their dream. "

In the presence of Nancy Dell'Olio, the director of the Italian, Cultural Carlo Presenti, and all guests , Angelo Iudice officially presented the first edition of "Apulia Academy Awards," a Prize that in November 2010 will award three British and three Italian artists, whose work will be exhibited in an art studios at the expense of the association. Among the jurors of the competition, anticipates Angelo Iudice,  Johnnie Shand-Kydd. The competition is open to British and Italian university students and will focus on three main areas: sculpture, painting and installations.
