The Terms for the 2011 Photographic Award soon to be published!

The Accademia Apulia Photographic Award is an annual international competition, open to photographers of all nationalities based in the European Union. The Award is designed to promote Cultural Diversity between communities across Europe.

As with previous Awards, the 2011 Photographic Award has three key objectives:

  • Raise awareness of current social issues
  • Identify emerging artists whose photographic work best represents the chosen theme
  • Foster an artistic dialogue between different communities & cultures through the Arts

We can reveal that this year’s theme will focus on global Migration.

The fundamental principle of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, however whilst for many migration is a positive experience, many others endure human rights violations, exploitation and xenophobia.

The focus of Accademia Apulia Photographic Award 2011 is to highlight Migrants’ struggle and difficulties as well as to show Migrants’ many accomplishments and contributions as successful members and leaders of the new host society in which they now live.

The project has received the endorsement of the International Organisation for Migration, the British Council and the European Commission.
