Kevin Stovey - Management Consultant
With over 20 years best practice in Procurement and Supply Chain expertise, CrimsonSky Managing Director Kevin Stovey specialises in maximising market opportunities, particularly through outsourcing. He has delivered significant savings for clients through a range of projects from quick wins sourcing programmes, to a strategic supply chain re-engineering programme.
Accademia Apulia ha asked Kevin Stovey a few questions:
What is the most interesting aspect of your work?
Much of my corporate working career was with British Airways, 17-years to be precise, but as I climbed the corporate ladder and my attitude to risk changed so my entrepreneurial instinct really started to emerge and in 2005 I left BA to set up Crimson Sky.
It's very difficult to identify one aspect that I find most interesting; starting a company from scratch and all the activities that come with it poses many interesting challenges. If I had to pick one then it's marketing and sales because I've had to develop new skills in order to be effective. You get a great buzz from engaging a potential customer, making a pitch and being told you've been successful.
What is your favourite book? And film?
I must confess I'm not a great reader; the books I do read tend to be business books. If I'm passing through an airport, which I do often, then I usually buy the latest John Grisham novel. My favourite film has to be Road to Perdition by Sam Mendes, it has a great sense of pace, a powerful story line, great cinematography and an exhilarating soundtrack.
What are your plans for the future?
Most of my immediate plans revolve around Crimson Sky and the desire to see it flourish and grow into a successful consultancy company. We are working on a series of products related to aviation fuel procurement whilst also planning to set up an office in Bahrain. Oh and who knows I might even settle down and get married.
