The Accademia Apulia UK asks Nadia Ostacchini some questions:
I love acting because ...
It lifts me, mentally, physically and spiritually! I find the whole process of developing a character challenging.
My greatest achievement so far is ...
It has to be my theatre company. I never dreamt I’d set-up my own theatre company and become an Artistic Director. Tricolore is now 2 years old and I am really proud of our achievements, especially with, as yet, no proper sponsorship or funding. I really feel that we are doing something unique and beneficial and love the fact that I am creating work for actors out there too.
At night I dream of…
Being happily married with a family!
To get the opportunity to work with talented actors whose work I admire and to be able to draw from my experiences of working with them.
The actor who inspired me the most is…
John Hurt because he is the epitome of humility. I love the fact that in real life he is such a humble person who plays such extreme characters. I really love actors who can really pull away from themselves. So many even established actors are just the same in everything they do. Or are just, in my opinion, a one-trick pony.
If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...
On my computer, checking my emails, and then I’ll go to bed late (again) and be tired (again!) the next day.
A phrase I use far too often is ...
I’m going to have an early night tonight!
I wish people would take more notice of ...
Nurses who work all the hours and get paid terribly!
The most surprising thing that happened to me was ...
Getting into drama school. I thought at one point that I’d left it too late and that my dream of training to become a professional actor would never come true.
Last piece of good advice someone gave me was…
‘Put yourself first.’ (I often forget to).
A common misperception of me is...
That of being a loud, chatty, over-excited and over-enthusiastic person. I am some of these things some of the time but, thankfully, I’m not one-dimensional.
I am not a politician but...
If I have a strong opinion about something and feel the need to express it, I will do so.
I'm good at...
Organising and getting things off the ground.
I'm bad at...
Switching off and doing things in moderation.
The ideal night out is...
A nice meal and a film with a loved one.
In moments of weakness I...
Reach for the chocolate!
In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:
Always strive to be the best you can be in life. Treat others how you would like to be treated.
