Nicol Vizioli - photographer

Creating images - by any means possible - has always been a necessity for artist Nicol Vizioli. She started her career as a painter, before becoming fascinated by still images, which ignited her passion for photography. With a degree in Cinema and a thesis on the relationship between painting /photography and videos, Nicol sees painting and photography as inseparable dimensions that influence each other, in a continuous, never-ending flow.

Nicol’s work is an exploration into ideas of beauty, inspired by an intimate interest in nature, ancient mythology and literature. She is currently studying for an MA in Fashion Photography at London College of Fashion.

Accademia Apulia has asked Nicol Vizioli the following questions:

My artwork is amazing because ...
because is candid.

I appreciate what art critics have to say, but ...
they should remember that when you create something you are alone. And this   experience is intimate and urgent; you simply need it.

The most surprising thing that happened to me was ...
sleeping on a bed full of red poppies.

Last piece of good advice someone gave me was…
smile.

My greatest achievement so far is ...
recognize myself in what I make and do.

At night I dream of…
Animals, trees.

The artist who influenced me the most is…
caravaggio, Sarah Moon, Buster Keaton.

If I weren't talking to you right now I'd be...
Sleeping ... dreaming of animals and trees.

A phrase I use far too often is...
I'm late!

I wish people would take more notice of...
beauty.

A common misperception of me is...
that I have brown eyes, but it's not true! They are green.

I am not a politician but...
But.

I'm good at...
intuition.

I'm bad at...
being on time; numbers (of every kind); speaking Russian (I'm learning it), making coffee; being patient.

The ideal night out is...
Being with my closest friends, drinking good wine, with music playing in the background.

In moments of weakness I...
I sing!

In a nutshell, my philosophy is this:
love moves everything, is the beginning and the end of every single thing. Creating it is the best act of love.

My message to fellow artists is ...
always be true to yourself.
