With several years experience in law business, Rhapsody Skillcorn has recently been made partner of the firm where she practices Property Law, in particular residential conveyancing. The practice, established in 1983, is located in leafy Richmond Green where some of the most important properties of Surrey can be found.

To Rhapsody, who is a member of Accademia Apulia UK from its launch in April 2008, we have asked the following questions:

What is the most interesting aspect of your work?

I find it enjoyable to assist people with one of the most stressful aspects of life, moving home. I like having a skill that I have studied to achieve and that people have to pay me for!

What is the most important achievement of your professional career/life to date? What would you say has influenced this achievement?

The biggest achievement was finally qualifying after relentlessly studying in the evenings from home for years whilst working full time. Studying for something you want is such a satisfying feeling and really helps focus your life, I would recommend it to anyone. A desire to do well and enhance my life is what influenced my achievement. There are so many opportunities open to everyone that there really is no excuse. With motivation and a good course, anyone can do great things.

Do you know a good recruitment agency/organisation that could help others to progress in your field? What advice do you have for them?

There are numerous agencies that cover legal work. A good one is totallylegal.com which specialises only in law and covers the whole of the UK.

How do you spend your free time? What is your favourite bar/restaurant?

I enjoy eating out primarily. One of the best meals I have eaten was at Claridges and I would certainly recommend it for a special occasion.

What is your favourite book? And film?

I recently read A Tale of Two Cities which I really enjoyed - a little heavy going at the beginning but so worth it.

What is your connection with Apulia?

Well, that would be telling, but I have been to Bari a few times.

What are your plans for the future?

Having been made a partener of the Law Firm in which I work is exciting and represents a long-term investment that involves lots of changes, but certainly is represents a great achievement in my work life.
