"Calenda 2011" is Launched in Bari
‘Calenda’ is a merger name between calendar and agenda. The "Calenda 2011" represents a great artistic rendezvous opportunity.
This first edition of "Calenda 2011" marks the beginning of a collection that year after year will record the passing of time together with the names and the works of contemporary artists.
Carefully selected artists will be invited to be part of an international community in which to meet and communicate ideas and projects. Calenda 2011 aims to foster a cultural exchange - its pages, dense with art, are designed to give pleasure, day after day, to art lovers whose world is entwined with that of the artists’ and look at the passage of time through the pages of Calenda.
The book is ear-marked with artists’ designated ‘special’ days, these can be their own birthday, their namesake or any other day they deem to be ‘special’ in their lives. In Calenda every artist is a protagonist for at least one, two or three days of the year. The book touches on the philosophy of rhythms and the concept of cycle. Life and death, summer and winter, light and darkness: life all-important dimensions.
"Calenda 2011" is designed to be placed on an elegant lectern so that it can be peeled, day after day, like a precious collection of images and memories. In the pages dedicated to the artists there are photos of themselves and their works.
The work "Calenda 2011" will be announced on various websites and newspapers and will be distributed in several national libraries, museums and galleries nationally and internationally. The book will be available, by reservation, from December 2010 onwards.
