(Martina Franca, May 6, 2009) - The film production company CINEMASUD srl, set up by two Apulian guys, Cesare Fragnelli and Guglielmo Nigri, presents RAGAZZI (English title: "GUYS"), a film by Cesare Fragnelli.

Everyday Cesare Fragnelli, Guglielmo Nigri and their team widen their visual perspective through a strong desire to give life to a talented and free production. Since 1999 CINEMASUD has affirmed a strong and prismatic cultural identity build on daring and independent ideas.

After a national and international great success of the last two short films written and directed by Cesare Fragnelli, "Lo Spaventapasseri" and "L’Oro Rosso", CINEMASUD announces the shooting start of the feature film RAGAZZI during June 2009. RAGAZZI will be completely located in Apulia, from Salento area and The Itria Valley. RAGAZZI, directed by Cesare Fragnelli, written by Fragnelli and the young Apulian screenwriter Alessandra Recchia, is an amusing summertime tale, it is about twenty-something guys who decide to spend their summer vacation in sunny Salento, on a campsite near Otranto. Friendship, love, homosexuality, sex, drugs and betrayal intersect in a vacation defined in terms of light-heartedness, recklessness and instinct. The protagonists feel immortal, but they eventually find themselves faced with tragedy. "RAGAZZI" is a meditation on the confused world of today’s youth that consumes sex with a sense of innocence that is at once lazy and timid; a film that penetrates the present, trying to visualize a reality that is complex, multifaceted and chaotic, but without being judgemental or disapproving on a sociological and moral basis. RAGAZZI tells about the passage from innocence to a state of awareness, a journey from immaturity to responsibility, which stirs up universal values with a finale in which comedy and tragedy co-exist, just like in real life.

RAGAZZI brings together an exceptional cast of young and talented actors, Italian cinema big stars and three young Anglo - Italian actresses. Many Apulian filmmakers, from cast and crew, get involved with the project.

Our thanks go to Mr. Angelo Iudice, President of "Accademia Apulia of Great Britain" and Dr. Carlo Presenti, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in London for supporting the project giving a very important help to the audition arrangement in London.
