The global fight against human trafficking is on
Scotland Yard officers received a very special blessing when Pope Benedict XVI invited them to the St Peter’s for an audience.
In an effort to combat human trafficking, Metropolitan Police officers had been in Rome in May 2012 for a proactive conference hosted by the Holy Sea.
With trafficking and the sex trade increasingly interlinked, the conference aimed to raise awareness of the effects caused by human trafficking, as well as to develop links with the supply countries.
The conference consisted of three main objectives: Prevention, Pastoral Care and Reintegration. Each workshop produced recommendations that will form part of the global strategy to combat Human Trafficking.
