The Italian Embassy in London is home to cutting edge Italian artists

In an evening dedicated to art and cultural exchange, 19 prominent Italian artists had their works shown to a select audience at the Italian Embassy in London. Promoting the event was His Excellency Alain Giorgio Maria Economides, the Italian Ambassador to London. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, the Ambassador paid homage to the unique creativity of Italian artists down through the ages.
"This exhibition wishes to showcase the work of talented Italian artists who deserve to be better known in London," said H.E. Economides.

The Ambassador, whose term began in April 2010, is particularly close to the young Italian artists. Referring to all artists living in the English capital he added, “You create beautiful artworks, and must have full confidence in the future."

In the exhibition, curated by the international artist Carola Syz Sarzi-Amade', a collection of contemporary sculptures, photographs and paintings were showcased to their best advantage within the magnificent gilded period interior of the nineteenth century Ambassador’s Residence in Grosvenor Square.

The exhibition contributors included such diverse talents as Accademia Apulia Award 2010 nominees Francesco Caradonna and Francesca Tosarelli, whose wide and varied portfolios of work embrace subject matter as diverse as the thrill-seekers of Coney Island New York,  as in the work of Tosarelli,  as against Caradonna’s Bologna crack users. By contrast, the oil paintings of Francesco Grillo, represent an altogether more metaphysical approach, as illustrated by works such as “Extending to Infinity” which seeks to extrapolate mundane objects out of their context, and elevating them to a whole new order.

Over 200 hundred guests attended the exhibition including the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Carlo Presenti, the Art Expert Rossana Pittelli. Also present were Leonardo Ferragamo, Nico Didonna, Yvette Rowland and Christian Walter.

The eclectic contemporary artwork collection on display at the Italian Embassy was applauded by all present proving once again that the Italian creativity has no limits.
